How to do business in China will be the focus of an all-day conference, open to the public and hosted by the North American Chinese Entrepreneur Association, NJIT's Enterprise Development Center (EDC) and the NJIT Chinese Student Association on June 8, 2013. The annual conference, titled "Entrepreneurship and Growth During the Economic Recovery," is a wonderful opportunity for anyone wanting to hear a full day of what works and what doesn't work as a dozen experts detail how entrepreneurs can take advantage of the opportunities created by a recovering global economy.

The conference, set for 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., will be held in NJIT's Campus Center and feature multiple sessions covering the business cycle, from start-up capitalization and business plan organization to managing the growth of a business via tax planning, and expanding via cross-border investment and international trade. Judith Sheft, associate vice president of technology development at NJIT, will welcome participants.

"This is an excellent opportunity for Chinese companies to learn about the EDC and its international soft landings program. I also encourage all small and medium-sized life sciences companies to attend. It's a great way to make connections and expand into the Chinese market." Meir Ezro, founder of TimeMaker LLC, will deliver the keynote address, "Formula and Models in Gaining Success in Life and Business" at 10:15 a.m. A question and answer session, then lunch and networking opportunities will follow.

The afternoon will feature a series of speakers and panels. Cross-border investment and business will be the focus of the first of two sessions. Alex Hao of the Junhe Law Firm, who is a mergers and acquisition expert with experience working with Chinese companies, will focus on China's outbound investment into the US - direct experience and trend analysis. Rui Liang, deputy county chief of Pingyuan, Guangdong, China, will look at Pingyuan as an entrepreneurial, investment and business expansion destination. Peter Zhang, CEO of Sandream Enterprises, an entrepreneur with experience with cross-border business, will discuss level policy for manufactures, businesses and investment. Lawrence Delson, founder and principal of Delson International, Inc. and an adjunct professor at NYU, will provide a general overview of doing business with China.

The second session will focus on the steps needed to go from an idea to a business. Among the panelists will be angel investors, including J. Skyler Fernandes of Centripetal Capital Partners; John Ason, an independent angel investor; and Mark Tang, another angel investor with WT Global Capital Inc.

Part two focuses on pitching a business plan. Speakers will include Tianle Yang of Garbo Biotechnology LLC, which is marketing a novel vitamin product - nicotinamide riboside (NR) that has shown significant positive results in multiple aging-disease models; George R. Velez, BVU Pharma LLC., will discuss his company's developing generic pharmaceutical products and information about the required analytical support. Emmanuel Zachariah of OncoPath Genomics, the developer of an oncology diagnostic test kit for lung cancer, will discuss his business.
